The Garden

The I AM Community has a quarter acre urban garden which is adjacent to the property.

Our intent is to co-create with nature using permaculture methods, and to uplift the surrounding neighborhood by sharing gardening knowledge — as well as our crop.  Ultimately, we will be harvesting enough organic fruits and vegetables from the Magic Garden to provide for most of the community’s daily needs.

We’ve partnered with Foodscape, Inc., a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to foster the culture of local growing, increase community interconnection, and create a more sustainable future for the city of Long Beach.  Ryan Serrano, the founder of Foodscape, is a local neighbor and is heading our Garden Oasis Project.  Residents of the community are encouraged to get involved and learn about growing their own fruits and vegetables in a sustainable way.
